About Ostrava
Ostrava is de op twee na grootste stad van Tsjechië. De stad ligt in het oosten van het land en is de hoofdstad van de regio Moravië-Silezië. Ostrava is het centrum van een omvangrijk industriegebied. Het huidige Ostrava ontstond in 1945 uit de samenvoeging van Moravská Ostrava, Duits: Mährisch Ostrau, en het kleinere Slezská Ostrava, Schlesisch Ostrau, ook: Polnisch Ostrau: Ostrava ligt dan ook op de grens van de historische regio's Moravië en Silezië.
